With smartphones, the right apps can change the world. Here are the essential items you need in an emergency.
Apple Watch is a life saver. It doesn’t mean you can respond to texts from your wrist. There is a lot of talk about identifying heart problems and contacting emergency responders after an accident.
don’t you have one? The iPhone can do a lot on its own. I’ll show you that first, then some advanced Apple Watch tricks.

1. Stability
With your iPhone in your pocket, the Health app uses custom algorithms to assess your balance, strength and gait. You can set notifications when stability drops. This is important as it can increase the risk of falls.
Here’s how to set up Steadiness Notifications:
open health app your profile It’s on the top right. If you don’t see your photo or initials, tap . summary again Browse If it’s at the bottom, scroll back to the top.

2. Heart rate variability
Heart rate variability (HRV) measures the time interval between resting heartbeats. Your Apple Watch checks for irregular rhythms, sends notifications, and records data in the Health app.
An irregular rhythm may indicate atrial fibrillation (Afib). In this case, the upper ventricle of the heart is out of sync with the lower ventricle. Seriously dangerous.
Here’s how to check your HRV data:
open health app on your iPhone.
Tap Browse It’s in the lower right corner.
Tap heart > heart rate variability.
At the top, choose to view your data by day, week, month, half year, or year.
Here’s how to enable arrhythmia notifications:
open health app.
Tap Browse It’s in the lower right corner.
Tap heart > Arrhythmia notification.
Once enabled, turn on notifications for irregular rhythms upon Or turn it off in the Apple Watch app on your iPhone.
Open the Apple Watch app and My watch tabGo to. heart > irregular rhythm.

3. High and low heart rate
Apple Watch checks for low and high heart rates, which may indicate underlying medical conditions. You can receive a notification when your heart rate is above 120 bpm or below 40 bpm after 10 minutes of inactivity.
You can turn on heart rate notifications the first time you open the Heart Rate app on your Apple Watch or anytime from your iPhone.

4. Respiration rate
Respiratory rate is the number of times you breathe in one minute. It goes up when you exercise and goes down when you sleep. When you go to bed with your Apple Watch on, your breathing rate is automatically measured and recorded.
A significantly higher or lower than normal breathing rate during sleep may indicate an illness or health condition.
To track your breathing rate, you need to set up the sleep feature on your iPhone.

Tap let’s start under sleep settings and tap Next.
Follow the on-screen prompts.
turn on Track your sleep with Apple WatchThis option is available during setup if you paired your Apple Watch with your iPhone beforehand. You can turn on sleep tracking later on your Apple Watch by pairing your Apple Watch after setup.
To view respiratory heart rate:
open health app on your iPhone.
Tap Browse It’s in the bottom right corner of the screen.
Tap respiratory > respiratory rate.
5. Activity
The activity ring tracks your movement, exercise and time on your feet. As you advance the motion, the ring will fill up. Addicted, right?
Check your daily progress and activity history anytime on your iPhone.
