1. Fill in the blanks: In 2024, the housing market will…
Prices continue to rise and affordability continues to fall. Nationally, there is still a shortage of housing inventory, and rising interest rates are making it even more likely that potential home sellers will stay behind.
2. What’s the strangest thing you’ve witnessed at a listing or open house?
Years ago, I had a seller client send me a video clip. The video clip was captured on a home camera as the buyer and his agent sat in a basement bar, indulging in the seller’s hidden booze and talking about the house. She and I were both shocked at her inappropriateness and audacity. I always encourage sellers to put away anything of value, not just alcohol.
3. Name one book that you have read many times.
There are some books that I read over and over again. One is laws of human nature Written by Robert Greene, I like his work too. 48 Law of Power. On a spiritual level, I enjoy prayer of jabez.
4. If I wasn’t in the real estate industry, I would…
Serial entrepreneur. I realize that I am not designed to work for others, but only for myself.
5. Describe your biggest setback in real estate and how you bounced back.
Contrary to what people believe, my television career actually had a negative impact on my real estate career for a while. When he first started on HGTV, I was the host. property virgin For 8 seasons. Between seasons 1 and 3, I was overwhelmed and completely unprepared for the reaction.
Due to my movie schedule and new baby, I didn’t have the time or flexibility to build the proper infrastructure to support the influx of new business. It didn’t feel good to see money flying away because I was literally turning down business.
By Season 4, I got wiser and spent the entire offseason dedicated to building a larger support team, a better client concierge, and strengthening my referral network. Now, four TV shows later, I have found a way to build beyond myself and monetize every aspect of my real estate business.
6. What is the one biggest problem that artificial intelligence solves in real estate?
When used properly and effectively, artificial intelligence can solve many challenges faced by real estate professionals. One of them is lead generation and task automation.
7. Home design trends we hope never come back…
shag carpet. I literally just did some work on a house where I installed a red shag carpet from the bathroom to the tub wall. I don’t know when this style started, but I hope it never goes back.
8. My vacation plans for this summer include…
Huh? What vacation?
9. As an influencer, what social media tips would you give to new agents?
Social media allows you to create, nurture, and accelerate your brand. Think of two or three things you want to say about yourself or your business, and make sure every post aligns with that message in some way.
My personal brand is real estate, design, family and inspiration. So on my @Egyptsherrod page, you’ll see that every post is connected in some way to the story of this brand. I post consistently according to a time schedule based on peak audience times.
For our business pages, we decided to separate them so that our message resonated and we could better target our audience. If it’s just real estate, I created @EgyptSherrodRealEstate, while for Indigo Road Home Furnitureing and Design Company, I created @IndigoRoad.
Give your audience exactly what they want on each different page. So don’t even be afraid to separate your business and personal pages. Remember to synergize both.
10. What is the best compliment you have received from a client?
As the CEO and President of Indigo Road Realty, I am honored when they refer to me or one of my colleagues as a “family real estate agent” and say I will be with them for life. It means I/we have earned their trust and resonated a deeper connection that goes beyond a one-time transaction. We should all aim to create lifelong customers.
