2025 James Beard Foundation Media Awards It was held in Chicago on June 14th, and Ashok Selvam of Eater Chicago received the Jonathan Gold Local Voice Award. According to Hige, the award is “a personal job that attracts readers with enterprising food and food coverage, demonstrating the versatility of the forms of reviews, profiles, cooking, quick hits, and hard news reports.”
Additionally, Punch was recognized by Craig Sauers’ Journalism Award in the Beverage category of Functional Stories. The Hercules challenges distilleries face in Thailand. The award “a single article on alcoholic or non-alcoholic beverages recognises “unique style, thorough knowledge, plain prose, innovative approach.”
These victories came among six Eater and Punch nominations, including the nomination of Eater correspondent Jaya Saxena for the MFK Fisher’s renowned Writing Award, Eater Chicago Freelance contributor Niraik Balmuhammad’s Foodways category, Eater’s video team for the commercial media category, and an additional nomination for the Punch Contribution Tribe Mickey category. This marks the James Beard Media Award, the 13th and the 4th punch in the last eight years.
