DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) — Home runs aren’t the only thing on the field at the Day Air Ballpark. Dayton Dragons gameit’s packed with on-field entertainment this season.
green team — officially formed in 2005 — is the on-field entertainment staff for the Dayton Dragons. This year he will have more than 20 players, skits and contests between innings.
“My favorite contest we have is probably the toddler race, and we race from one parent to another to put out little brand new toddlers on the field. It’s always adorable.” It’s always unexpected and the fans love it,” says Caitlin Lawler, Senior Director of Entertainment.
Rohrer started with the Green Team and worked her way up.this is her 22nd season.
“It’s been a great experience to bring this show to everyone in every game and create these memories for our community,” Rohrer said.
During the Dayton Dragons’ offseason, they work hard to reimagine and refresh their entertainment line-up.
“There are six fireworks festivals. Team ZOOM Our frisbee dog act is back.We have national acts such as Bird Zark! and ZOO Persters! We will have an all-new segment called Dragons Presents to bring local dance studios, singing groups and Dayton area performers to our plaza before home games,” said Jamie Penwell, entertainment manager. I will explain.
Penwell started working for the Green Team Dragons in 2018. Although she currently works in the office, she participates in entertainment on the field as part of the Green team.
“When they met the mascot, someone they really looked up to and wanted to meet, and when they finally got to meet them, that big hug and that big joy and that big smile off their faces. It’s the absolute best,” says Penwell.
In addition to mascots Gem and Heater, another new face has joined the roster this year.
“The new character we are debuting is DJ Banana,” says Rohrer.
With all bases covered, you’re ready for an action-packed season.
“Like last year, we will have a Marvel night, but this year players will be wearing Marvel jerseys specially designed by Marvel artists, which is really cool,” Penwell elaborated.
The green team also wears a skit that has always been a fan favorite.
“We have a lot of skits. We have over 200 people and every skit has very specific detailed contestants that we’re looking for,” said Penwell.
Before the game starts, the green team is in the square to mingle with people and look for contestants to participate in the skit.
“We’re always looking for someone who can let us out on the field and let us do anything,” Penwell says.
It runs in about 90 seconds, and what the crowd doesn’t see is what goes into each skit.
“It takes a lot of work behind the scenes to make it look easy,” Penwell admits. “We need the right music, we need the right graphics. We need the right contestants. They have to be in the right costumes with the right props. must be in the correct position.”
While the crowds are watching the entertainment, staff keep an eye on everything from the control room at the Day Air Ballpark.
“We have everything that controls everything you see, like LEDs and video boards. This is where all our cameras are plugged in. The music you hear, the effects All sound and video comes from here,” says Rohrer. “Dragons has installed a brand new LED lighting system, which we are confident will enhance the entertainment experience at the park with choreographed light shows throughout the game.”
While they’re in control, they keep the crowd on their toes, never knowing what they’ll see next.
“There are a lot of people who come to the game and leave without knowing the score.
