Jacksonville, Florida – DoubleTree by Hilton will look very different in three years.
The hotel, located at 1201 River Place Boulevard along the Southbank Riverwalk, is set to undergo a $14.6 million renovation and become the Hotel Bellamy, according to News4JAX news partner The Daily Record.
According to TDR, the multi-million-dollar renovation will include redesigning guest rooms, public spaces, the building’s exterior, the pool and sun deck, a redesign of existing food and beverage services and the addition of a riverside dining concept.
“The hotel’s riverfront location makes it an ideal fit for our repositioning as the first full-service lifestyle concept in the downtown Jacksonville market. We are confident that our repositioning strategy, combined with the strength of Hilton’s reservations system, will position the hotel for success for many years to come,” Southerly CEO Dave Folsom said in a release obtained by TDR.
Southerly Hotels Inc. refinanced the property with a loan from Fifth Third Bank, which had an “original principal balance of approximately $26.25 million, with an additional $9.49 million applied toward renovations of the hotel,” TDR said.
The 10-year lease agreement with Hilton Worldwide will see the hotel relicensed as a soft-branded “DoubleTree by Hilton” under the name “Hotel Bellamy.”
According to the hotel data site Smith Travel ResearchSoft brand hotels are hotels that are partnerships between independent hotels and hotel chains.
The project is scheduled to be completed by January 2027.
The building was originally constructed as a Hilton Hotel in 1967. DoubleTree acquired it in 2005.
