Many DoorDash drivers neglect to deliver orders to apartments. In fact, there was even a viral clip of her on TikTok of an employee being caught eating a customer’s order because she couldn’t find her unit.
So what’s the source of all the apartment anger? There are many reasons why delivery to apartment complexes frustrates food delivery employees. Especially when these orders take a long time to complete.
For example, some complexes require delivery drivers to buzz in, and DoorDashers face difficulty even entering the unit. Then there is the added effort of having to locate each individual apartment building itself. I need to contact you to track the location.

Again, due to a combination of factors, orders can take minutes, which can negatively impact a delivery driver’s bottom line. But recently, one of Kentucky-based TikToker’s girlfriends, Megan Whitmer (@meganmakesjokes) shared a simple solution for DoorDash customers who live in apartments: drop a “pin” into the app. This feature, commonly found in almost all major modern smartphones, uses the device’s GPS sensor to pinpoint the exact location of the device holder.
“Just a quick tip about DoorDash from a friendly and reluctant DoorDash driver. If you order DoorDash and live in an apartment complex, for the love of God drop the pin and tell me where you are.” Whitmer said. “I don’t want to go out in the dark looking for Building 42 300 A. I host a podcast on true crime. I’ve already imagined all of the ways in. That’s all.”
other DoorDash driver Likewise, they have expressed how little they enjoy having their apartment delivered.Editor @Riamattttt, for example, wrote in a post uploaded to the r/DoorDash sub of the site: Too many customers don’t give out gate codes or directions. I mean, I don’t live in your complex and it’s dark AF. I do not respond to emails. It’s so annoying.
TikTok users who responded to Whitmer’s post agreed with her assessment. One user gave a DoorDash customer her second tip.
Other drivers have also commented on various types of deliveries venting their frustration.
“Also. You only need to go up 3 flights of stairs to go up another 3 flights of stairs to the OTHER side. This is because I failed to write down which Entrance 2 the diners go into.” , said one user.
“I don’t accept those orders lol,” commented another.
But one DoorDash customer who lives in an apartment said the driver could be at fault. “I live in an apartment!!! Please leave a proper delivery note so they can easily find me. Drivers here do not read,” they wrote.
The Daily Dot reached out to DoorDash via email and Whitmer in a comment on TikTok.
