PIGEON FORGE, Tenn. (WATE) — Parts of Dollywood theme park were flooded Sunday as storms continued across much of East Tennessee.
Photos and videos shared online showed some areas of the popular Sevier County attraction, including sidewalks and parking lots, flooded, and a theme park spokesman said one minor injury had been reported.
The Pigeon Forge Police Department announced at 8:30 p.m. that McCarter Hollow Road at the entrance to Dollywood was closed due to a road collapse.
A flood warning is in effect for Sevier County until 10:45 p.m.
Severe thunderstorms caused flooding at Dollywood on the afternoon of Sunday, July 28. With the assistance of the Pigeon Forge Police and Fire Departments, park staff directed guests to safety during the storm. At this time, one minor injury has been reported. Dollywood is assisting guests whose vehicles were damaged by the weather, and cleanup crews have been deployed. Park officials continue to assess the situation to determine if the park will reopen as scheduled tomorrow. We will post updates on our social media pages as more information becomes available.
