This simple airport ticket hack will save you money on your next trip. But is it actually legal or a trend that is not so reliable?

There are so many flight hacks out there that it’s hard to know what’s actually worth your time. You’re booking Tuesdays, skipping layovers (getting connected flights, getting off in connected cities), tracking prices, or trying your luck with last-minute deals.
Some of these could be real money savers, but others are myths more than anything.

Travel Content Creator @mcmillansonthego This woman went viral to tell people that buying tickets at the counter can save money on flights, so this woman tried it herself.
With a 15-second clip with over 2.4 million views, @Haletg got a ticket at the frontier desk and was shocked by her total.
“I thought you guys were lying,” @Hallett said.
However, when she bought two tickets for Puerto Rico, she was surprised to see that it totaled $217.92.
Feeling the mood of flight shopping, @Haletg headed to Spirit where he got two tickets to Miami for half the price of a nosebleed seat at the Beyonce concert (aka about $100).
Does this really work, or did she just get lucky?
It works, but not as universal as you would have hoped.
Some airlines, especially budget airlines such as Spirit, Frontier, Breeze and Alegianto, charge a fee to book tickets online. He told Fodor’s.
If you obtain a ticket directly, the airline cannot charge that fee. This typically adds between $18 and $25 to your expenses.
“It’s not something they promote, but if you know about it, it’s there,” Neugarten said.
One mom shared it with a large family of seven and an extra trip to the airport to buy tickets was worth it. Saved $40 per person on a round trip, which meant a total of $280.
Try this and check the ticket counter time in advance. Not all counters are open 24/7 and I don’t want to travel to the airport.
Also consider whether the time, effort and transportation costs involved in doing this will exceed the $20 savings you save.
