Miel Organics has come under fire after a woman claims the company’s hair care line caused her hair to fall out, and she’s not the only one to make that claim.
In a viral video that has been viewed more than 1.1 million times, TikTok users
Amina (@aminalens) believes the brand’s products are the cause of her hair loss and has warned others to avoid products from the line.
“Now I understand why my hair was literally falling out of my scalp,” the woman begins in the video.
The woman went on to explain that when she noticed her hair loss, she initially blamed herself, attributing the “big bald patch” on her head to stress, and even thought she might have alopecia or some other illness.
But she eventually realized that her hair loss coincided with when she started using Miel Organics.
“But now I see all these videos online and I started using it about four or five months ago so it makes sense,” she continued, “and I’m losing a lot of hair.”

Miel Organic faces online backlash
In 2022, the brand became a hot topic with many influencers crediting it with stimulating hair growth.
Now, online sentiment towards the product appears to have changed.
Recently, a woman shared how Miel’s rosemary and mint oil caused her hair to fall out – she even showed viewers a lock of hair that she said had fallen out.
A licensed hairstylist spliced together the video and added her own critique of the brand, accusing founder Monique Rodriguez of selling out to conglomerate Procter & Gamble.
The brand was also criticized for being subject to a “Black hair tax,” in which products made for Black hair are sold at higher prices than comparable products not targeted at Black consumers.
Viewers’ reactions
In the comments section, many people said they were planning to ditch the brand and offered alternatives.
“Olaplex products are the best!! I use their shampoo, conditioner and treatment,” commented user NIMO.x.
“I [Shea Moisture] “idc,” user Furhan added.
Others said they had similar experiences with Miel’s products.
“You’re not alone,” says user Muna. “I’m back to Pantene.”
“Oh wow sis, I have the exact same bald spot!,” said another user. “I went to the dermatologist and got prescriptions but nothing worked so I decided to stop using Miel Oil too!”
