A new construction project is set to begin at the Disneyland Resort, as theme park officials confirm that the entrance gates at Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure will be renovated.
A Disneyland Resort spokesperson told KTLA that construction will begin later this year.
Scott Gustin, a member of KTLA’s parent company Nexstar Media’s digital team, said the update will include additional gates, including gate strollers and ADA accessible gates. .
“The new gates will be similar to the entry gates at Disneyland Paris and will open automatically after a Cast Member scans and authenticates a guest’s theme park ticket.” Posted by Gustin on Xofficially Twitter.
Currently, there are ticket gates at the entrances to both theme parks.
To minimize the impact of construction on guests, Disneyland plans to complete the project in phases.
“To minimize the impact on arriving guests, we will approach construction in phases, building one turnstile at a time,” a Disneyland spokesperson said in a statement to KTLA.
News of the latest construction projects comes amid plans to renovate Downtown Disney, reimagine Splash Mountain, and construct the Haunted Mansion outdoor procession.
A completion date for the project has not yet been announced.
