Tampa Bay selected Culp out of the University of Washington in the seventh round of the 2024 NFL Draft. Culp brings a speedy, athletic body to a tight end room that has had plenty of short-area options with bigger bodies. He is not guaranteed a spot on the roster, and his ability to contribute on special teams will depend on his ability. He will likely compete with Payne Durham and Ko Kieft for a spot on the active roster.
Devin Culp signed as Bucs’ third draft pick
Culp’s contract comes with an estimated value Signing bonus of $86,188 and annual salary of $795,000 The total contract value should be just over $4.1 million. His contract would push one more player down from the top-51 cutoff, but the Bucks only needed an additional $21,547 in salary cap space to acquire him.
Culp finished his college career with 66 catches for 711 yards and four touchdowns in 42 games over four seasons at Washington. He showed he can contribute as a moving tight end who can block on the move.
Tampa Bay has now signed three draft picks, joining Culp in addition to fourth-round pick Bucky Irving and sixth-round pick Elijah Klein, both of whom were signed last week. Now with Culp on board, the team needs to sign offensive lineman Graham Burton, outside linebacker Chris Braswell, wide receiver Jalen McMillan and safety Tykie Smith.
