The name and details have been announced for the Disney Experience Showcase at this year’s D23 Ultimate Fan Event, which is colloquially referred to as the Disney Parks Panel but will also include other experiences like Disney Cruise Line and Adventures by Disney.
Horizons: A Showcase of Disney Experiences
This year’s panel is named “Horizons,” presumably a reference to the defunct EPCOT pavilion, but also a metaphor. Last year’s panel was titled “Infinite Future,” and the panel name is not necessarily an indication of upcoming announcements.
Here’s Disney’s description of the panel:
Join us at the Honda Center on Saturday, August 10 at 7 p.m. for an immersive event from Disney Experiences around the world. Josh D’Amaro, Chairman of Disney Experience, will host this exciting showcase woven with musical themes, with a special lineup of musical numbers, surprise appearances and familiar faces. Throughout the show, fans can expect updates on new and highly anticipated projects across Disney Experiences, as well as new ways for fans across generations to connect with their favorite Disney stories.
D’Amaro recently promised that guests will hear about “more than just Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom” at D23, hinting at possible announcements for Disney’s Hollywood Studios and Epcot. As for the other two parks, many are waiting for details on the Beyond Big Thunder project at Magic Kingdom and Tropical Americas project at Disney’s Animal Kingdom.
There are plenty of announcements expected at the panel, including DisneylandForward and the promised “Avatar” experience, new ships coming to Disney Cruise Line, and a ton of international expansion. Plus, the description hints at “new” projects.
