Republican presidential nominee Ron DeSantis said in an interview with NBC News on Monday that he does not support punishing women who violate the abortion ban.
The governor of Florida said, “Absolutely not.” “No, I don’t think this is a woman’s problem.”
“I think many of these women are in a very difficult situation. They have no support from many of their fathers,” DeSantis said.
She said she believes many women choose to have abortions because of a lack of support systems.

“And for many, the number one reason women choose to have an abortion is because they feel unsupported and abandoned,” Prolife’s DeSantis argued. “In Florida, we have provided support, we have paid, but at the end of the day, I don’t support any kind of punishment for women.”
“Then veto any kind of federal bill that seeks to introduce a nationwide ban?” asked Dasha Barnes.
“So we will be pro-life presidents and support pro-life policies,” DeSantis replied.

Late last month, DeSantis was criticized by leading anti-abortion groups for not supporting a nationwide ban, calling his position “unacceptable.”
Marjorie Dannenfelser, president of Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America, said, “A pro-life president has a duty to protect the lives of all Americans. He should be an advocate for lives.” said.
“Governor DeSantis’ dismissal of this mandate is unacceptable to pro-life voters. Consensus has already been formed. The enthusiasm is palpable and measurable. “That’s no reason for a strong leader to back out of the fight. This is where the president’s leadership is most important,” she added.
