Yankees’ famous shortstop Derek Jeter and his wife, Hannah — they have three girls — just welcomed a new name to their roster. This is my 4-month-old son, Caius Green.
The couple opened up about their family to Extra’s Mona Kosar Abdi.
Hannah confessed: “Our household has been crazy lately. But it’s okay. We’re enjoying it. We’re very excited.”
Derek smiled and added, “I’m tired.”
Mona pointed out that he was no longer just the girl’s father and asked, “What does that mean?” Did you buy him a baseball mitt? ”
Referring to sounds coming from off-camera, Jeter told her, “He’s…sleep-trained without a pacifier, so I’m sorry if you hear any noise in the background.” So there’s a lot of screaming going on. I don’t think now is the time to introduce anything new. ”

Mona further asked about the meaning of Caius’ name, to which Hannah explained: He’s my friend’s son. And I really liked the name. I don’t know whether to call him Caius or Kai. ”
Derek added. “And my middle name is Green…I did a TV show a few years ago called ‘Finding Your Roots’…We went back to my father’s side as much as we could…When slavery started, they started slavery. So the first recorded Jeter is Green Jeter…that’s where his middle name comes from.”
The Jeters kept the news of the surrogate pregnancy a secret. Mona asked why she decided to announce it now.
“We’ve been pretty private about most things in our lives, so we waited until he was born,” the MLB alum said.
So far, Caius’ older sisters Bella Lane, 6, Storey Gray, 4, and River Rose, 1, are happy with the new kid on the block. .
Hannah said: “Girls love having younger brothers. They’re not really interested in toddlers.”

Derek continued: I had a sister and then three girls. All I know is that there is a girl in the family. It has been adjusted. We have her four children, all under the age of six, so there’s a lot going on in this household. ”
He is also happy to become a father after a successful career on the baseball field.
Mona asked if the hard work that comes with raising a child was fulfilling, to which Derek replied: That’s something I couldn’t do during my playing days because I was too selfish. My career came first, and I was the type of person who wasn’t interested at all when someone showed me pictures of their children. But I couldn’t be more proud of our four children, so I’m the first to show them pictures. ”
Derek and Hannah are also proud to be part of the Jeep family and own a Grand Wagoneer, a luxury vehicle perfect for their on-the-go lifestyle.
What is a day like in the Jeter household?
Derek said: “It’s a long time in the car. Every day, we drop the kids, including my two oldest, at school at 7:30 or 7:45, and then we have a 18-year-old, so we… will take his place. And pick-up. Then practice and school activities…every moment is important to us, so we want to be there and participate as much as possible.”
