In the anime series Maou-sama, Retry!, something strange happens as MMORPG Infinity game creator Akira Ono prepares to shut down the servers. He suddenly finds himself inside the body of his character, Demon King Kunai, and awakens in a new world that appears to be based on the Mugen Game, but with a few differences.
As he navigates this new world, Ono/Kunai encounters various allies and summons them to join him on his journey. Along the way, he must deal with the social problems of the Kingdom of Holy Light and the demonic cult that opposes it, while trying to understand why and how he was summoned to this new world.
