Demeko Lyons returns to Houston.
According to multiple reports, the Ryans have agreed to a deal to become the Texans’ next head coach. Things have been heading in this direction for the past few days, with the Ryans interviewing the Texans for his second time after the 49ers lost to the Eagles in his NFC Championship game.
Lyons has spent the last two seasons as the 49ers’ defensive coordinator, who allowed the fewest points in the league during the 2022 season. Lyons previously coached his inside linebackers for the Niners, but turned to coaching after a ten-year playing career.
Spending the first six seasons with the Texans, the Ryans were the 33rd overall pick in the 2006 Draft. He made the All-Pro team at Houston and moved to the Eagles for the final four years of his playing career.
Ryans will become the Texans’ fifth head coach since the start of the 2020 season, and hope in Houston is to stop Carousel from taking another spin for years.
