Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel called Rashida Tlaib a “cruel and hateful” lawmaker after she tried to justify the pro-Palestinian chant “from the rivers to the sea.” ” asked them to “retract” their social media posts.
Nessel, a fellow Democrat, said he had defended Tlaib “many times” because he believed Tlaib’s “heart was in the right place.”
“@RashidaTlaib, I have supported and defended you countless times, even when you said indefensible things, because I believed you were a good person with a good heart.” wrote Nessel in X’s post.
The attorney general condemned Tlaib’s “cruel and hateful comments,” which he said “hurt so many people.”

The AG Democratic Party’s comments came after Rep. Tlaib defended the “river to sea” chant.
“From River to Sea is an aspirational call for freedom, human rights, and peaceful coexistence, not death, destruction, and hatred,” the Democratic lawmaker wrote. “My work and advocacy have always centered on justice and dignity for all people, regardless of their faith or ethnicity.”
A video Tlaib posted to X before defending the phrase included the following request: president biden If they do not support a ceasefire to stop the “genocide of Palestinians,” they will face the consequences of the 2024 elections.

In the video, Tlaib denounced Biden’s declaration that the United States supports Israel and opposes a ceasefire, saying, “The majority of Americans disagree on this. #CeasefireNow.”
Tlaib’s comments sparked outrage on social media, with Israel supporters slamming the delegate’s comments.
“From the River to the Sea refers to the complete annihilation of the Jewish state from the Jordan River to the Mediterranean Sea. It is also the battle cry of Hamas, a brutal terrorist organization that decapitates babies and rapes women. You are terrorists. ,” the nonprofit organization Stop Antisemitism wrote about X.
Rep. Byron Donald, R-Florida, wrote that X was “a rallying cry for the obliteration of the state of Israel from the river to the sea. If that’s your desire, that’s a problem. Stand with Israel.”
Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene called for Tlaib’s resignation.

“The terrorist Tlaib is promoting and calling the genocide of all Jews in Israel ambitious,” Rep. Greene wrote on the X-Post. “‘From the river to the sea’ means exterminating all Jews and taking their land from the river to the sea. You should resign and go to Gaza and fight on the front lines for Hamas. ”
