Daisy Ridley will star in Bury the Dead.
The 31-year-old actress has been cast in the survival thriller directed by Zach Hilditch.
In the film, Daisy plays the role of Eva, a desperate woman whose husband disappears after a disastrous military experiment.
Hoping to find him alive, Eva joins a “body recovery unit,” but her search takes a frightening turn when the bodies she’s buried begin to show signs of life.
Bury the Dead is written and directed by Hilditch and produced by Penguin Empire’s Kelvin Munro and Grant Sputore and Campfire Studios’ Ross Dinerstein. Filming is expected to begin in February 2024 in Western Australia.
The filmmaker said: “Having Daisy play the role of Eva was a dream come true. She brings the perfect combination of vulnerability, grit and determination that Eva exudes throughout the film. It embodies that,” he said.
Ridley played Rey in the Star Wars sequel trilogy and reprized the role in Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy’s new film at Star Wars Celebration in London earlier this year. It became clear that it would.
The next film will be set 15 years after the 2019 film “Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker,” and the producer says it will “tell the story of the rebuilding of the New Jedi Order and the forces that rise to destroy it.” He explained.
Obaid-Chinoy added that when Daisy takes the stage, she is immersed in a project with a “powerful Jedi master.”
She said: “My heart is pounding. I’m so excited to continue this journey.”
