Out magazine only debuted Part 30th Annual Out100 list, Cynthia Erivo wins cover and Icon of the Year!
Behind the scenes at the cover shoot, Cynthia said, “I’m so proud to be on the cover of the Out100 list,” adding, “I’m so proud of who I am, and proud to be on the cover.” I think so,” he added. It’s a full-circle moment for me. ”
She claimed: “No dream is too big and no idea is too small. Everything that makes you you is what makes your art and what you want to do special.”
This year is a big one for Erivo, who plays Elphaba in the Wicked movie.
Cynthia spoke candidly about how she could relate to this character.
“It’s hard to talk about Elphaba as Other without connecting her to the essence of who she is as a queer black woman walking in the world,” she said. “I quickly realized what it meant for people to look at you and think you weren’t beautiful, you weren’t accepted, you weren’t any of those things. Because I’ve walked through the world this way. And having a way of being okay enough with yourself to not necessarily be okay with it, but to still be able to get through it, even if other people put it on you.”
She added that the film is about “accepting people who are different, whether it’s their walk of life, the color of their skin, or the power that people have who may be different than you.”

In the behind-the-scenes video, Cynthia also talked about Elphaba and Glinda’s relationship in the movie.
Erivo said, “The story of ‘Wicked’ and the unlikely friendship that forms within it is such that these two beautiful women, despite being so far apart from each other, somehow find similarities and resemblances to each other. I hope I can somehow get the point across.” Each other… and they find common ground and also accept each other’s differences. ”
she continued. “So if you find a way to connect and find common ground, you’ll probably find someone who will support you too. That difference is the spice of life to me.”
