We’ve all done it: We have jars and packages of snacks in our hands, and we eat them with pleasure, so perhaps out of boredom we turn the package inside out, and what monolithic companies put inside the food We are reading. We are ingesting. Past the running statements of consonant-laden chemicals, sugar, alcohol, oils, and other ingredients, you’ll also find bold text indicating that the product is manufactured in a facility that also processes nuts.
This is important information to share with people. Especially if you eat granola bars or chocolate coconut patties, they may not contain nuts if you have an extreme nut allergy that can have devastating effects on your health.
But have you ever picked up a candy, read the package, and been warned that it might contain tilapia?
TikToker Paden Ferguson (@padiano) was stunned when he saw the ingredients label on a Walmart bag. bargain mini marshmallows: “May contain traces of tilapia and contains bioengineered food ingredients.”

Paden says in the clip: I bought some mini marshmallows. ’” He flips the bag over to reveal the nutrition facts and ingredient list. He points to the text on the back of his bag that the marshmallows “may contain traces of tilapia.”
It has garnered 1.4 million views since posting this week.
“Why what?!” Parden says in disbelief that an unrefrigerated pack of marshmallows could contain fish leftovers. I get it, but why is there fish in my marshmallow? I just don’t get it.”
One commenter seemed to share Padden’s shock.

Great Value lists gelatin as one of the ingredients in marshmallows, and one user said tilapia could be a by-product of the fish gelatin used to make the treat, effectively turning the food into kosher. is an option. As I said above, it’s a kosher option.”
But some were curious to find out what the “nice bioengineered mystery ingredient” was.
Judging by one commenter’s experience, the marshmallows seem to contain enough tilapia or fish gelatin to cause an allergic reaction. I’m allergic to fish, so it was a fun evening. I contacted Walmart and they didn’t care. “
