For one woman, a trip to the Burlington Coat Factory turned into an unpleasant shopping experience as she struggled to navigate the disorganized shoe and clothing section of the store.
TikTok creator Leslie (@leslimorganmakeup) recently posted a video of the massive chaos inside a coat factory in Burlington. The video had more than 9,000 views as of Thursday, sparking debate about the decline of big-box retailers.
@leslimorganmakeup I understand why people shop online. I’m an old school shopaholic who shop in person at the store, but this was wild. #burlington coat factory #Discover Burlington #burlington #s#shoppingr#retailr#retail therapy ♬ Original song – Reina
In the video, Lesli captures herself reacting to the chaos she discovers after walking through the store.
“I can’t remember the last time I was in a coat factory in Burlington, but I’ve never seen such chaos in a retail store in my life,” she said.
She shows how one of the aisles of the store is littered with piles of discarded shoes.
“I literally had to leave here,” Lesli said. “I couldn’t even get my phone out to record the clothing section because I was so overwhelmed with people just throwing S’s all over the place.”
“I don’t blame the employees, either,” she elaborated. “Customers who were shopping at this location were throwing so much stuff that the employees couldn’t keep up even if they wanted to. I’m sure they’re understaffed, but I’ve worked in retail for eight years, so I’m not sure why. , I understand very well.”
The Daily Dot reached out to Leslie through a TikTok comment and to Burlington Coat Factory via email.
The user was horrified by what Lesli saw. While some blamed poor business practices for the decline of big-box stores, many others criticized customer behavior. Years of store glut in the United States have led to the gradual closure of large stores. According to CNN.
“Hmm, reason #102837473829 I don’t work in retail anymore. Mass retailers expect me to cut hours and do 15 jobs with 2 people,” said one commenter. .
“People need to learn respect! As a mother of a child in a wheelchair, I am upset that I cannot shop in these conditions,” said another.
