In the international battle against illegal drugs, perpetuation of the program has been a US government type addiction for decades. So Secretary of State Marco Rubio chose to inspect the inventory. Now that his drastic review has been completed, the project is moving forward when it comes to profiting America, just like the port’s cargo containers.
However, few are willing to acknowledge the benefits of removing the program from autopilot. Instead, the mainstream media, driven by Click, ran articles suggesting the Trump administration.”Antifentanyl work has been suspended in Mexico” and “We shrieked off important anti-narcotics programs. ”
This is the truth. As soon as foreign aid paused and reviews began, the State Department moved quickly, assessing key programs and greenlighted. In the following weeks, almost 700 individual projects managed by the International Bureau of Drugs and Law Enforcement (INL) were reviewed, refined and eventually unlocked. Many of these are joint programs with the Department of Homeland Security, the Drug Enforcement Agency, and the Customs and Border Protection Agency, and have funded joint programs from the Department of State. Most of these are related to narco trafficking, but some funds equip foreign law enforcement officials to lesser importance to other threats.
Sec Rubio says 83% of the USAID program purges, the rest now falls into states
In Latin America, projects that have proven to be back online now include projects that include Mexican and Peruvian targeting systems that sniff foreign passengers and cargo, Costa Rican dog units, interceptor boats that sniff drugs on their way to the US and block drugs off the coast of Panama, and interceptor boats that block drugs to identify salvadoran cliers to identify salvadoran airports via domian-style buccans. Detect fentanyl. These include the Trump administration’s designation of key drug cartels and criminal gangs as foreign terrorist organizations and the deportation of members of detective Tren de Lagua.
It is ironic that the same exits that pretend to be concerns were the ones that thwarted the war on American drugs, as has been done overseas in the past. The Washington Post, for example, claims that Republican policies have.”Deepen the impulse towards foreign interventions that produced suspicious outcomes“And I pointed it out.”Policymakers’ attention to foreign bad guys and foreign drug flows did little to protect the country from opioids.“And fentanyl.
Mexican drug cartel leaders have been extradited to the US to face federal drug trafficking charges
They can’t have it both ways – not only attacking Secretary Rubio’s comprehensive assessment, but also denies past efforts to hurry and “do something” and “more” and not preventing tens of thousands of Americans from dying of drug overdose every year.
Therefore, critics recommend asking the same basic questions that Rubio is posing for. Is it the US responsible for eliminating or eroding foreign actors who promote our domestic drug crisis from a moral perspective? What role does a foreign government play and what resources can it withstand? Also, what objectives can we not achieve?

As the checkered history of our country’s foreign “capacity building” suggests, is the training program really capable of a “stop” narco trafficker who owns in itself an incredible source of financial resources, weapons and social cutheter? What kind of equipment, or mentoring – does this actually facilitate cross-border investigations, prosecutions, and extraditions?
When it comes to catching bad guys, certain programs prove to be virtually unworthy. As such, INL has ended its agreement with more than $500 million in grants since January 20th. It is difficult to justify Americans paying for the furniture of rural courts in the Indo-Pacific, South America, and the “incarceration alternative” of Central Asia’s law enforcement research.

In Secretary Rubio’s view, we must be honest with ourselves. In the past, certain programs served as their own kind of drugs – we tapped the back and felt better about “making a difference” worldwide. Now, decades of highs are finally draining – and reality sinks.
When it comes to counterarcotics, there are better and worse law enforcement programs. We maintain the good and cut the bad. Saving America’s money and saving America’s lives doesn’t have to fall into conflict.
