When it comes to the NFC South, there are two teams that are thinking about who their starting quarterback will be, and two other teams that may not have a quarterback on their roster yet. The Saints are the most direct and obvious with the addition of new free agent Derek Carr. The starter is Kyle, who is Trask and Baker, who is determined by Mayfield’s matchup, so the Bucks are his second.
The Panthers are set to acquire the quarterback with the No. 1 overall pick, while the Falcons have several options with the No. 8 pick, but will decide whether they want a rookie quarterback or continue with 2022 draft pick Desmond Ridder. There must be.
NBC Sports’ Chris Simms has covered the quarterback position extensively throughout the year. On Tuesday, he appeared on The Dan Patrick Show. he asked an interesting question by host.Patrick wanted to know which quarterback would make a bigger impact this offseason – from Jimmy Garoppolo to the Raiders, or baker mayfield to Bucks? Seconds after Simms’ reaction, Patrick also throws Carr into the mix.
“Do you want Derek Carr in there too?” Patrick said. “If it’s unfair for Kerr to go to the Saints, Garoppolo to the Raiders, and Baker to go to the Bucks, they might not be that good.”
“That’s where I was leaning,” said Sims. “I think the Bucks are in a bit of a rebuilding mode here, so I was going to stand by the Garoppolo situation. So you’ve got a pretty good trio of receivers, you got one of the best running backs in football, so it’s possible.”
Sims then explained why the Saints are his choice.
“But Derek Carr, it’s for the real Dan. You’re right about it,” Sims said. Good, Michael Thomas is back and Chris Olave and Rashid Shaheed and (Alvin) Kamala still have a little bit of tread on their tires. I like Derek Carr and the Saints move.”
Here’s a clip from the topic of conversation:
An interesting answer by Chris Sims when asked about Jimmy G, Baker and Derek Carr on The Dan Patrick Show yesterday.
Let the video speak for itself, but there are a few points.

Bucs has not been rebuilt
Given his overall experience and longevity in the league when it comes to being the best quarterback in the group, it’s hard to argue against Kerr. I won’t touch it anymore.
While I respect Sims’ work and his own achievements in the industry, there are some points he makes that I disagree with. First of all, saying the Bucks are in rebuilding mode can be interpreted as they’re pushing hard this season and making plans for 2024. Grab.
If the Bucks were rebuilding, why would they re-sign Jamel Dean to a four-year deal and bring Labonte David back next season? So putting him opposite Carlton Davis III sounds like a rebuild? But he’s in Tampa this season.
Last time I checked, the Bucks still have Mike Evans and Chris Godwin at receivers, and Godwin is on contract for two more seasons. ? The rebuilding team may have sent them to another location, but not the Bucs.
And then there is the offensive line situation. At worst, moving Tristan Wirfs, the NFL’s top three right tackle, to the left flank is a major commitment by the organization, a team that is lobbying for the 2023 postseason.
There is no replacement for Tom Brady. Going into this season, it will be impossible to find a better replacement. and Dave Canales as the new offensive coordinator have done a solid job of trying to get this offensive back on track.
Is your roster perfect? No, but we have enough talent to compete this season.
How much of a threat are saints?
The other aspect of Sims’ comment that I don’t fully agree with is the nature of the Saints’ overall threat after the first week of free agency. all left for the other team, they were shredded along the defensive line. New Orleans replaced them with the signings of Nathan Shepard and Harlen Sanders, but those aren’t upgrades.
Olave is an exciting young player on the Saints’ offense, but Michael Thomas has appeared in 10 games over the past three seasons. It’s pretty much unreasonable to expect him to automatically regain the form he had in 2019. Rashid Shaheed looked better at the end of the season, but the Saints were formidable with his three wideouts. It doesn’t even come close to having a conversation.
We have a long way to go before all of this is resolved. Without a front-runner, this season of NFC South has a lot of charm and curiosity.
