JOHNTOWN, Pa. – Get in the festive spirit with this extravagant Christmas tree extravaganza.
Gallery on Gazebo will host its Festival of the Trees through Jan. 7 in the lobby of AmeriServe Financial, 216 Franklin Street in downtown Johnstown.
It features 10 trees decorated by local organizations and businesses.
Festival chairperson Arlene Johns said the tree display is in its fourth year and helps add to the holiday spirit in downtown Johnstown.
“It’s to take away from all the excitement of Central Park. We felt it would be nice to have some nicely decorated trees,” she said. “AmeriServ has been very gracious to partner with us. It’s worked out well because people go there anyway to see the cool vintage store window displays.”
The theme tree includes “Reason for the Season” by JWF Industries. “Travel” by John Murtha Johnstown Cambria County Airport. “Nature’s Bounty” by Garden Club of Johnstown. “The Game Begins!” Written by Johnstown Mill Rats. “A Hug from St. Matthew” by St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church. “Hunger Awareness” with the Cambria County Backpack Project. “DUI” by Johnstown Fire Department. “Dashing Through the Snow” by Conemaugh Home Health. “Under the Sea” by EG Associates, Elder Care Advisors. “Waslenag Knot” was created to raise awareness for Alzheimer’s disease.
“We have some great trees,” Johns said.
“Some are truly phenomenally beautiful and some are just so much fun, but each one is very unique and a personal take on what a Christmas tree should look like.”
Susan Tomella Angeletti, senior vice president at AmeriServe Financial, said the company is excited to once again partner with Gallery on Gazebo to host the Festival of Trees.
“These artistic trees truly complement our vintage holiday displays and provide our community with a gathering place to reminisce and keep our holiday traditions alive,” she said. Ta.
Visitors to the exhibit will have the opportunity to vote for the most original and most artistic work, and three winners will receive a $100 cash prize.
“Visitors can vote once per bank visit and there is no cost,” Johns said. “Last year he had close to 1,000 votes, which shows how many people banked during the Christmas season.”
Johns said Festival of the Trees is something people should do while downtown.
“The more things we have, the more people will come, so we want to bring more joy and interest to downtown,” she said. “We want to continue to improve what we’re doing downtown.
“Just like we always do something new at Christmas, we want to see something new every holiday season.”
Proceeds will benefit Gallery on Gazebo improvements and programming.
The tree will be on display during bank business hours.
The exhibit is free and open to the public.
