Supermodel Christie Brinkley, who is unfairly aged, cooks in a new memoir entitled “Uptown Girl.”
Mona Kosar Abdi of “Extras” spoke with Christie, 71.
In the book, Brinkley dropped a bomb about her former Billy Joel’s famous song, “Uptown Girl.”
She told Mona, “It’s a very interesting story. He started out like a fantasy girl who didn’t actually exist, so shelved it.
Christie recalled her relationship with Joel. “I had an amazing 11 year Billy. You know, we were young and things were going on for us. We loved everything.
Her memoirs also detail the dark times of their relationship, including his drinking.
“I’ve realized that in my life there is something I really try hard to make everything perfect,” Brinkley said.
Christie and Billy ended their marriage in 1994, but something special came out of the union. Her daughter, Alexa Ray, persuaded her mother to be honest with her memoirs.
Brinkley said, “She actually encouraged me to go there and you encouraged me to tell my truth. “You know, you don’t think people understand that people come from deeper, not familiar with them.” ”
Christy emphasizes that the memoir is “more than divorce,” saying, “It’s definitely not a memoir of revenge. I try to explain joy, but sometimes there is such an extreme joy that comes to tear apart.
Brinkley has mentioned the divorce from her ex, Peter Cook, who had an affair while she was married. He issued a public apology, but was unable to save the relationship that ended in 2006.
She said, “I didn’t just go through it. What was really tough was my parents were very, very sick and suffering.”
Christie explained in detail.
Brinkley discovered that there was a silver lining in it all, but “I think it’s all about giving you. I really felt that, and I really discovered strengths that I didn’t know I had.”
Describing herself as a bit hopeless romantic, Christie said she was open to finding love again after a past marriage.
She commented. “I think he’s still there, but if he doesn’t, I’m very happy. And when you’re really happy in your life, I think it’s probably like a good material.
Christie said she was “undoubtedly an optimist” about her outlook for life. “You have to be. Optimism is hope, action takes place, you know, I am also an aquarian.
She said, “And I grew up with my dad saying, ‘Baby, you write your own script and make it good.’ ”
“Uptown Girl” is out.
