“Let’s talk about elephants for a minute.” do not have Fox News host Brett Byer told Republican candidates on the stage of tonight’s debate, saying that even if one of the many candidates is convicted in court, it’s not going to be the case before Donald Trump. I asked if I would endorse the president as the Republican nominee. accusation against him.
“You signed a pledge to support the eventual Republican nominee,” Byer said, asking again if Trump would support him.
All candidates except former Arkansas Governor Asa Hutchinson raised their hands.
The first to move was the hand of Vivek Ramaswamy. Former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie raised his hand with some trepidation.
“Whether or not you believe the criminal charges are right or wrong, this act is in violation of the authority of the United States government,” Christie was booed.
When Ramaswamy stepped in to defend Mr. Trump, claiming that Mr. Christie’s campaign was based on a grudge against him, Mr. Christie hit back by saying Mr. Ramaswamy made him laugh.
This was followed by a huge amount of booing that prevented Christy from continuing to speak. Byer had to turn around and beg the crowd to let him continue.
“Let’s just get through this situation,” Byer said to the crowd.
“Christy is at it’s worst when he goes after #Trump and #Vivec calls him about it.” commented @wisconsin_now.
Hutchinson later said he believed Trump was morally disqualified as president following the events of the January 6, 2021 Capitol riots.
“Obviously, I’m not going to stand by anyone convicted of a serious felony,” Hutchinson said.
