Lately, Chipotle customers have been complaining that their bowls and burritos aren’t as filling as they used to be.
This was primarily a complaint related to delivery and pickup orders. Internet users have previously gone viral for pointing out pitiful portions in online orders, with one user even claiming to have paid nearly $10 for a bowl that contained only a small amount of food.
Currently, users say they receive smaller quantities when ordering in-person, but they’re not happy about it. After one user walked away after only receiving two scoops of protein and was charged for “quadruple chicken,” others felt comfortable following suit. Some customers started ordering from Chipotle, checking their portions, and leaving the restaurant before their order was complete.
After another customer posted about this, TikTok users started questioning whether the portion sizes were really getting smaller. The company’s CFO Jacques Hartung asserted that he would not be returning in 2023, making this clear in his statement. interview Many customers disagree with the statement that “portion sizes are not getting smaller.”
And now, one former employee is spilling beans, rice, and queso about why this happened.
In a clip that has been viewed more than 118,000 times, TikTok user Nelly (@nelymichelle._) says that from her experience, the problem lies with the manager, not the employee.
“I remember when I worked at Chipotle…they were mad at me like shit because I was giving them shit,” she says.
Nellie also said that the only time she “skimps” on ingredients is when she doesn’t have enough ingredients to properly complete an order. Her critical scoop caused major dissatisfaction from management.
“I remember once getting in trouble for adding a handful of shitty cheese to an order that asked for extra cheese,” she details. “And that awful manager said, ‘No, if you ask for extra cheese, we’ll add two pinches of cheese.'” If you order extra cheese, are you going to add two pinches of cheese? Who the hell is that? ”
“These managers were complaining about that part, like it was coming out of their paycheck or something,” she summarizes. In the caption she added: “Working there, it was always about quantity and I hated taking food away from people.”

Commenters echoed Nellie’s complaints about the smaller amount.
“Managers should do a line to find out how people feel about the potions they received,” a user said.
“Same!! The manager told me the first drink had to be a small amount in case everyone asked for more,” another person elaborated.
“Yes, my colleagues used to say, ‘We need to reduce our giving,'” a third person recalled. “I will fulfill these people!”
