I am proud to be an airman and to have served in the US Air Force as an F-22 pilot. This is the very same jet that was used to shoot down the Chinese surveillance balloon.
President Joe Biden said in his State of the Union address to Congress: Unfortunately, China tested the president’s claims last week and he failed.
Biden’s decision to allow enemy aircraft to fly over U.S. sovereign airspace was the Air Force’s biggest strategic blunder in its more than 100-year history. Arguably, this was not a failure of aviator flight, technology, tactics, or capabilities. It was a failure of political will that exposed the weakness of Biden and his administration.

Since 1916, the United States has consistently used air power to achieve military objectives. During World War I, the U.S. Army recognized the great strategic interest in the air domain, and Congress allocated millions of dollars to figure out how to control this new territory.

Legends such as Benjamin D. Foulois and Billy Mitchell took nascent technology and transformed it into the most significant military advances of the 20th century. In addition to meeting military objectives, air power has also been used for decades to meet strategic objectives.
