China responds to ongoing US-Taiwan diplomacy by imposing sanctions on a group of US organizations, including the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library.
The sanctions were announced Friday following China’s outrage at a meeting Wednesday between House Speaker Kevin McCarthy and Taiwan’s President Tsai Ing-wen at the Reagan Library in Simi Valley, California.

Alongside the library, China has also imposed sanctions on the Hudson Institute, a Washington DC think tank.
Hudson President and CEO John Walters said in a statement Friday: “Last week Taiwan’s President Tsai Ing-wen commended her for her great courage and clear determination to resist tyranny. “The Chinese Communist Party has a long history of trying to silence voices at home and abroad against its international aggression and oppression of the Chinese people. and it’s still not working.”

Tsai received an award from the Hudson Institute during a visit to California.

The Chinese government has announced that members of the organization are now barred from the country and that all financial assets in China belonging to sanctioned groups will be frozen.
