Les Fromages Latinos is recalling various brands of cheese due to Staphylococcus aureus contamination.
According to the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA), the recalled products were distributed in the Canadian provinces of Alberta, British Columbia, Ontario and Quebec.
About Staphylococcus aureus
Staphylococcus aureus is a bacteria that usually causes sudden symptoms of food poisoning, such as nausea, vomiting, retching, abdominal cramps, and weakness. In more severe cases, headache, muscle cramps, and temporary changes in blood pressure and pulse may occur. Recovery usually takes 2 days, and anyone can become infected. Although rare, some people have died from such infections, especially the elderly, young children, and those with severe debilitating conditions.
