Rescue crews from the cruise ship Carnival Radiance responded to a request from the U.S. Coast Guard on Saturday to rescue 25 people from a small boat off Mexico’s Pacific coast.
Carnival Corp. said the Coast Guard contacted the crew of the cruise ship, which was sailing to Ensenada, Mexico, on Saturday afternoon about a distress call regarding a small craft.
The ship quickly headed to a location designated by the Coast Guard, and rescuers were able to save 25 people aboard the Carnival Radiance, including three children, according to the cruise line.
Carnival said its teams provided food, water, medical assistance and other assistance to those rescued and arranged for them to be reunited with Coast Guard personnel.
The Carnival Radiance left its home port of Long Beach, California, on Friday for a three-day cruise. The rescue operation has not affected its schedule, which is proceeding as scheduled.
