Rachel Brosnahan and Kaitriona Baruch chatted “extra” about their new spying action thriller “The Amateur.”
Rachel ultimately spoke about working with Rami Marek, saying, “We’ve all been on shows that have come at the same time for many years, so we talked about working on something.
She said, “I loved the story too. I love the heroes at the heart of this spice thriller. On the other hand, there are many of the works that are familiar to us in that genre, and it feels like a fresh way to do that.
Kaitriona reflected the theme of revenge vs. justice and the moral dilemma Rami faces when she comes out to revenge her wife’s death in a terrorist attack.
“I think it’s very common for us to confuse revenge with justice,” she said. “I think justice is something that we all want when something terrible happens. I think it’s necessary. It’s a necessary part of our process, and we can overcome trauma, or step on trauma, but revenge… just gives us more pain.”
She said, “I think you have this really beautiful shift towards the end of the film.
Both women were saying amazing things about working with Rami as both a top-notch man and a producer.
Brosnahan said, “He’s just a dream. He’s such a generous partner and not off-screen. He can make you feel like you’re the only person in the room and somehow make everyone feel like their work.
“You know, because it was so exciting to see it. He didn’t let it go. Not in a bad way, but in this really beautiful way, he ended an incredibly long day with the set in every scene,” Balf said. [Hawes] “Okay, we’re going to stop this place. Maybe we need to get this moment. I love another crack with that.”
She continued, “It was just such a meticulous attention to detail and its passion, and it was so obvious, it was really exciting. And he is also the best, kind person… I love his mom.”
Caitriona, who starred in “Outlander,” shared how she felt before the show’s eighth and final season.
She said, “It’s funny, I got a message from one of our executives yesterday and she’s in the post. So she’s finished our finale, so she was saying something happy about it.
“It was a very big part of my life. I’m very proud of it. I’m very grateful that I was able to do it. But I’m so grateful because I’m taking in all my love and all the people I want with me.”
“Amateur” will be on April 11th.
