Local media had the chance to speak to Graham Barton today, shortly before he signs his rookie contract, and it was only a matter of time before he did so, and he spoke about it after signing. Thursday’s minicamp practice.
“To be honest with you, especially on a rookie contract, [to it]”It’s been really in the back of my mind but I’m happy to finally make it official and make it happen. I’m excited to be here. Like I said, the contract is just a formality but I’m happy to be able to cross it off the list and focus on football and have a good season,” Barton said.
With Barton officially signing shortly thereafter, he will now be able to focus fully on football and develop with the rest of the team during the break before training camp begins in late July.
In the meantime, Burton is looking to get better, continue to learn the offense and what it takes to be a starting offensive lineman in the NFL.

“Just trying to keep my head above the water, soaking up as much as I can and listening to everybody,” Burton added about how he’s approaching his rookie career. “Understanding my position as a rookie. I just got here and I don’t know anything so I’ll tell myself that and just try to soak it all up.”
Burton continued.
“I feel like I learned a lot and I’m looking forward to digesting it over the next few weeks and getting back to training camp and being ready.”
Graham Barton is looking to replace Robert Hainsey as the starting centre and establish himself in the middle of the Buccaneers’ offensive line, and Thursday’s signing should give Barton some peace of mind heading into the summer break.
