The goal is to continue to build a diverse recruiting pipeline for future head coach and general manager positions across the NFL. Two seasons ago, senior director of research Jacqueline Davidson and former offensive coordinator Byron Leftwich joined the program. This year, Lewis will once again represent Tampa Bay for the second consecutive season.
Bucks QB coach Lewis moves up the ranks
Thad Lewis’ career trajectory is heading in the right direction. He worked his way up within the Bucs organization from intern to assistant wide receivers coach, and served as quarterbacks coach for the first time last year. Most of the credit for Baker Mayfield’s season goes to Dave Canales, but Lewis helped revive Mayfield’s career with 4,044 passing yards and 28 touchdowns as the Bucs advanced to the second round of the postseason. What you have given me is a great resume builder.
Lewis interviewed several times for the offensive coordinator position last offseason, but ultimately returned to Tampa Bay. If the Bucks are successful again this year, he could end up with even more money.

Cohen isn’t the only new coach Lewis is teaming up with in Tampa Bay. Lewis is the only remaining member of the offensive coaching staff besides running backs coach Skip Pete, as they have new passing game coordinators, wide receivers, tight ends and offensive line coaches.
Lewis recently said what a difference he sees in Cohen’s offense and that he will use him again this season.
“I think it’s motion, shifting, things like that,” Lewis said. “We didn’t do a whole lot, but we did some things. I think at this point you’re going to see a lot of things like trying to dominate the defense, getting man zone information, things like that. Certainly, I would say the motions and shifts are the biggest thing you can expect to see happen. You can probably count and tally them a few times during the game, but definitely more than last year. There will be many.”
