Preparing for the Bucks Move out of town before Hurricane Miltonthey also announced several roster moves on Monday afternoon.
If Tampa Bay isn’t battling enough injuries, it will place outside linebacker Marquise Watts on injured reserve and wide receiver Cody Thompson on practice squad injured reserve.
To take Thompson’s spot, the team plans to re-sign undrafted rookie wide receiver Tanner Counou to the practice squad.
OLB Marquise Watts becomes Bucs’ latest defensive injury
This is a tough blow for Marquise Watts, one of Pewter Report’s featured 2024 training camp diaries. Watts is not known to have suffered an injury prior to today’s transfer, and no corresponding moves have been made to sign other players at this time. 53 people list.
Watts played only 10 defensive snaps and did not record a single statistic in the Bucs’ first five games this season. He was named to the preseason roster for his special teams acumen and played 67 snaps, or 50%, with Thomas McGaughey’s unit. The team will likely consider adding another contributor there, but they may not have to look far.
As of now, the outside linebacker depth is Yaya Diaby, Joe Tryon-Soyinka, Anthony Nelson, Chris Braswell, and Jose Ramirez. Ramirez was active in his first NFL game against the Falcons on Thursday night, receiving one snap on special teams. He could be the player the team is headed for going forward.
Tanner Counou returns to provide Bucks WR depth
Cody Thompson was promoted to the active roster in Week 5, then immediately placed on injured reserve on the practice squad. Thompson also saw some rushing action, even gaining 21 yards on a kick return, but his spot will now go to Tanner Coonu. Cunue was not with the team this offseason, but has found his way back into the organization. The 5-foot-11, 178-pound wide receiver adds further depth to a position that is already in need.
Rookie Jalen McMillan missed the past two games with a hamstring injury, and second-year wide receiver Trey Palmer left the Eagles’ game with a concussion. Neither played against the Falcons, but are expected to return soon.
Until then, Knue will be on hand in case the team needs additional personnel. With Thompson on injured reserve and Sterling Shepard on injured reserve, he and Ryan Miller are now the two wide receivers on the practice squad. Sign to active roster last week.
With the move, Shepard joins Mike Evans, Chris Godwin and undrafted rookie Cameron Johnson as the team’s healthy wide receivers. The Bucks are hoping for some good injury news before Sunday afternoon’s tough divisional game against the Saints.
