BTS’s Suga caused controversy in August when he was caught drinking and driving an electric scooter. Since then, the rapper has faced the wrath of internet users. In an update on his drunk driving case, the K-pop idol was fined without trial through summary prosecution.
According to South Korea’s Yonhap News Agency, Suga was “summary indicted” in the case by the Seoul Southern District Prosecutors’ Office. The rapper was fined under the Road Traffic Act for drunk driving. The amount of the fine has not yet been disclosed.

For the uninitiated, a “summary action” is a legal process in which a court imposes fines and penalties on a written basis, without the need for a trial.
On the evening of August 6, Suga was riding his electric scooter home when he made a turn and fell in front of his house. A nearby police officer noticed that Suga was drunk and came to his aid. A breathalyzer test was administered and Suga was taken to the police station. A lot has happened since then. BTS members have apologized multiple times for their “inappropriate behavior.”
On August 23, Suga was questioned by police at Yongsan Police Station, where he apologized for disappointing fans. Suga also wrote a note that read, “I am so sorry and saddened beyond words because I am causing damage to my members and team. I also know the disappointment that the fans who supported me must have felt. I sincerely apologize to the fans who were deeply hurt because of me.”
