Breeze Airways is adding a new route out of Long Island, New York.
The low-cost carrier plans to operate seasonal routes twice a week from Long Island MacArthur Airport (ISP) in Islip to its new fast-growing hub at Florida’s Vero Beach Regional Airport (VRB). Service by the ISP, located about 80 miles east of New York City, will begin on December 21 and run through April 28, 2024.
Vero Beach is one of Breeze’s new destinations, an unconventional destination that fits with the airline’s strategy to focus on limited-service airports.
Located on the Atlantic coast of central Florida, Vero Beach is not the typical gateway for travelers to Florida. When Breeze began flying to the airport earlier this year, it had no commercial service, but the airline appears to see potential at the airport. After all, this state is located between the two most popular tourist spots in the state. Orlando is about 160 miles to the northwest, and the coastline stretching from Palm Beach to Miami is about 160 miles to the south.

Breeze launched Vero Beach service in February, operating from Westchester County Airport (HPN) in New York, about 55 miles north of midtown Manhattan, and Bradley International Airport (BDL) near Hartford, Conn. . Flights from Rhode Island TF Green International Airport (PVD) in Providence will begin on Nov. 2, and Breeze will fly nonstop from Vero Beach to a total of four destinations.
The addition of the ISP to VRB route comes about two weeks after the company announced a new expansion giving Breeze its first destination in Illinois. These flights will begin in December direct from Abraham Lincoln Capital Airport (SPI) in Springfield, the state capital, to Orlando and Tampa.
Brees is currently in Florida with the latest news.
“Vero Beach has been a huge success since launching in February,” Breeze founder and CEO David Neeleman said in a statement. “And our guests were also very vocal about adding I Slip services.”

First flight report: What JetBlue founder David Neeleman’s new airline, Breeze Airways, brings to the skies
Neeleman, who is also the founder of JetBlue Airways and Azul Brazilian Airlines, launched Breeze in 2021 with a business model similar to Allegiant Airlines and Avero Airlines. Breeze focuses on flying nonstop routes between cities that would typically require layovers when flying on larger rivals.
While Breeze has expanded its domestic network over the past two years, Neeleman recently said at the Skift Global Forum in New York City that the airline is considering international expansion with destinations in Mexico and the Caribbean. He said there was.
Breeze will operate the route from ISP to VRB with an Airbus A220-300 aircraft. The jet is in his 2-2 configuration, with reclining-style seats in the company’s “Ascent” cabin.
The new Florida flights were welcomed on Long Island, as ISP has seen a decline in air service over the past decade.

VRB will be the sixth destination from ISP, and the new route will be the first time Long Island Airport has opened commercial air service to the Florida beach city.
