After the Bears hired Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson, the Jaguars appeared to zero in on the former McVay protégé.
With quarterback Trevor Lawrence locked in on a long-term contract and an impressive lineup of weapons around him, led by rookie wide receiver Brian Thomas Jr., they could unlock Lawrence’s potential. It was natural to pursue someone who could. Nevertheless, that didn’t happen, as Cohen became the second offensive coordinator to turn down Jacksonville’s offer after Byron Leftwich did the same in the 2021 offseason.
