“The industry in question was car washes,” Christie added.
By the way, according to Zippia, average salaries for car wash workers range from $24,000 to $39,000. It’s unclear what position Christie was in.

Several commenters shared similar experiences with bosses who had unreasonable expectations of how committed employees should be to their jobs and industry.
“My manager always says, ‘Some people don’t take this seriously. You can’t go this far,’ and this is retail,” said one person.
“The Burger King manager also told me the same thing and was later arrested for stealing coins from a fish tank,” wrote another.
“I used to work for Target and when I told them I had to quit because of school, they told me to rethink my priorities,” the commenter said.
Another shared an even more grim situation when he was interviewing for a job at Starbucks and his manager told him that he would “only hire him if he dropped out of college.”
Dozens of people have gathered in the comments section to share how bosses have asked employees to prioritize the work they already have over their future aspirations.
