Earlier this week it was possible to redeem JetBlue TrueBlue Points for Japan Airlines Awards seatit’s open Potential sweet spots For travel Between the US and Japan.
Award availability at premium cabins on the first day or so appeared to be limited to business class awards within days of departure and to business class awards, but now it appears that they are not using business class seats using JetBlue TrueBlue points for the next few months.
As reported first RomeJapan Airlines appears to have opened a mountain of awards with a flight to JetBlue TrueBlue members. The catch is that much of this space is in the premium cabins (mostly first class at this point) and requires a lot of TrueBlue points.
Some people may be wary of transferring points from partner programs such as American Express Membership Rewards, or chasing the ultimate reward for off-chances that this is a false fare. We were.
However, we tried to book a top-notch award ourselves, but did not do that in June on a flight from Haneda International Airport (HND) in Tokyo to Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW). This appears to be legal as I was able to log in to the booking confirmed on the Japan Airlines website and even pick a seat. That said, consider your own risk tolerance before making a transfer or booking a ticket.
Here’s what you need to know if you are considering using this opportunity yourself:
I’ll deal with the basics

The best flight to book
Today, business class availability from various cities was widespread, but the majority of premium award spaces seem to be in first class now. It’s probably thrilling for aviation nerds and luxury enthusiasts, but it also means you’ll need about three times the TrueBlue points, as you do for business class awards.
If you need business class (and who isn’t just 59,000 points one way!), your best bet is to jump out of either Los Angeles or San Francisco until summer.
There are a few other considerations. Japan Airlines offers excellent business and first-class cabins, but there can be some major differences depending on the route and aircraft you book. Airlines just fly Airbus A350-1000 A stunning new First and Business Class Suites Between Haneda and New York and Dallas. Other routes listed will fly on a variety of aircraft with older types of seats, including the Boeing 787-9 in business class only, and the 777-300ers in both business and first class.
So, if you can position yourself in New York or Dallas, it’s totally worthwhile to experience the latest equipment from the airline. Jal’s A350-1000 First Class Winner of the 2024 TPG Award For the best new first class thanks to the huge footprint of the suite, stylish finish, the latest technology (have you ever seen the 43-inch entertainment screen?), unparalleled amenities and dining service.
Apart from that, if you are just looking for a great way to travel between the US and Asia, you can’t beat Jal for truly great service and comfortable seating.
The best way to get JetBlue TrueBlue points
JetBlue TrueBlue is the transfer partner for the next credit card rewards program at the listed ratios.
If you want to transfer points from your partner to your JetBlue TrueBlue account, your best bet is either Chase or Citi. For example, if you want to book a one-way first class award from New York to Tokyo, you will need 185,000 chase or city points, but 231,250 AMEX points. So take that into consideration.
Also, make sure you need a flight of the required award before making a transfer.
Conclusion
Japan Airlines’ Premium Awards space has been extremely difficult these days when redeeming miles from the partner program. The option to redeem JetBlue TrueBlue points on JAL flights was only online earlier this week, but so far it has been exciting to see the affordable Saver Awards also available in business class. However, the level of both business and top-notch awards on many of Jal’s US routes over the months is rather simply unprecedented.
It’s good to be careful before booking. Without thinking that this is a false fare, I was able to make a self-confirmed booking in first class to provide you with the best advice. However, we’re talking a lot of points, especially with coveted first class tickets, so keep certain bookable awards in mind before you transfer your credit card points. And if you end up flying first class, it should be an unforgettable experience worthy of all these points.
