Quarterback at his first press conference as a member of the Bucks baker mayfield We talked about why he came to play for the team and what he looks forward to when he wears red and pewter.
Bucks QB Mayfield on what brought him to Tampa Bay
Mayfield spoke about it from the beginning of Monday afternoon’s press conference.
“It’s been kind of a domino effect in the quarterback market right now,” Mayfield said. Being successful is clearly important in the last few years.
“Being in a place where I’m stable and I know how to win and I know how to do it properly. I got to see different things from my journey. Especially decisions like this I wanted to go to a place where I could win immediately to take down , and this is the place.”
For Mayfield, he will be one of a new generation of veteran quarterbacks to join the NFC South. With the addition of Derek Carr (Saints), Taylor Heinicke (Falcons) and Andy Dalton (Panthers), the division has accumulated a lot of experience.
For him, who was traded to the Panthers last offseason, this isn’t his first go-around in the division. He already has a chip on his shoulder, but joining the Bucks will allow him to prove outsiders wrong and have two revenge games against his rivals. It’s never been a straight line to get to, and it’s been our biggest challenge yet. He’s still young (28 in April) and could revive his career and turn it around.

If he can succeed Tom Brady, it could be the longest tenure for a Bucks starting quarterback. If he struggles or is benched in favor of Kyle Trask, he may have to settle for a career backup role. There is a “process”.
Part of that includes playing for head coach Todd Bowles, whom he met during the 2018 draft process.
“I am happy to be in Tampa with a franchise that has had success and knows how to do it.
Bucks QB Mayfield ‘thrilled’ to play with new WR
He was one of the dominoes that fell on the quarterback market, but Bucs has arguably the best collection of talent and the latest record of success in the NFC South. This included wide receivers Mike Evans, Chris Godwin, and Russell Gage, who restructured their contracts to stay with the team.
“Anytime you play with a playmaker like that, it obviously makes your job easier,” Mayfield said. “They are very experienced and have seen a lot. I am thrilled to have the opportunity to play with them, Russell. [Gage] Likewise, it was a big decision for him to stick around. I would love to get to know them and work with them. “
Today’s official signing and press conference is the first step as he begins building relationships within the building.
“I’ve signed a contract, so I’ll start with that. I’m just trying to make sure it’s official, and I’m all in now.”
