January 15-16, 2022 – 2021 men’s singles world number one Novak Djokovic has been detained and deported from Australia over a dispute over visas and Covid-19 vaccinations and has been ruled out of the tournament.
From November 15, 2022 Australia’s Department of Immigration has announced the lifting of Djokovic’s three-year travel ban, paving the way for the nine-time singles champion to qualify for the 2023 Australian Open.
