Aubrey Plaza, Patti LuPone, and Joe Lock talk about Agatha All Along, the new Marvel series that takes place after the events of WandaVision.
“Extra” spoke with Patty, Aubrey and Joe, who received a lot of love from D23 recently while promoting the show.
Aubrey called it a “wild” experience, adding: “There were a lot more people there than I expected – I think it was 18,000 people.”
She recently suffered a serious knee injury, but that didn’t stop her from attending the press tour for the show.
She said: “I tore my ACL playing basketball so I’m waiting for surgery. My old leg is here so I’ll be OK.”
Aubrey also joked that she’s going from a “sassy summer” to a “witchy fall” because she’s playing a witch in “Agatha All Along.” “I’m a witch,” she joked.
Plaza said she enjoyed playing the villain, saying, “It really got me in touch with a big part of myself. It was great because I think this show is all about reclaiming your power and tapping into your own strength. I loved the costumes that Daniel Theron created, and I think that added to the feeling of being in full force.”
In the first episode, Aubrey filmed an intense fight scene with Kathryn Hahn.
She admitted, “To be honest, I didn’t do much preparation, but we had an amazing stunt team. We had some amazing stuntmen. Katherine and I went on set with them and they were really good. It was all shot very safely, but we did whatever we wanted. But there were times when I was like, ‘I’m not going to do that. You’re up there and I’m like…yeah.'”
She added, “The practical effects that we did were fun too. You can actually feel the wind coming out of you when you’re doing certain movements. You can feel the force coming out of you. That part was really cool.”
Joe spoke about his character, a teen who helps escape Agatha’s spell, and hinted that he gets “cooler” as the show progresses.
When asked if the teens have lightened up the show, Joe sarcastically replied, “For now.”
Patti is a Broadway legend and had the opportunity to sing in the show, she said, “I grew up in a choir… there’s something so moving about the blending of voices for me… as opposed to just being a soloist with a backing chorus… I was so happy when we were singing together.”
“Agatha All Along” will premiere on Disney+ on September 18th.
