COOPERSTOWN — The 26th season of the Cooperstown Summer Music Festival begins Sunday, May 12 at 4 p.m. with a Mother’s Day program featuring the Ariel Quartet. The concert will be held at Christ Episcopal Church, 46 River Street, Cooperstown.
Sunday’s program will include Ravel’s String Quartet and Schumann’s String Quartet No. 3, according to a media release.
“We are delighted to present the Ariel Quartet at this special event,” CSMF Artistic Director Linda Chesis said in a release, adding, “Schumann’s work with the ‘Clara Motif’ expresses his deep love for his wife. “The quartet is a fitting choice for Schumann’s quartet.” Mother’s Day. Clara Schumann was a remarkable woman who balanced her illustrious career as a touring concert pianist and celebrated composer with managing her home and eight children. She was a woman who inspired modern times. Her Clara motif is a testament to the lasting influence she has had on her husband’s life and music. ”
