The long-running CW series riverdale Entered the final season. Of course, its trademark (and rather maligned) annual music episode returns. However, this musical episode will not revolve around an existing musical, but will feature original music created for the show.
Written by the show’s characters Kevin (Casey Cott) and Clay (Karl Walcott), riverdale‘s annual musical episode is called “Archie: The Musical” and will be a 1950s twist. Cast members KJ Apa, Lili Reinhart, Camila Mendes, Cole Sprouse, and Madelaine Petsch will all play famous roles in the fun and campy original musical on the show.
The popular Riverdale fan account @nocontextriverdale gleefully reported, “Original!” Archie! musical! episode! “
On the other hand, the playwright behind bizarre parody of Archie, Neil Kleinsaid on Twitter, “This is why Archie’s lawyers had an aversion to me while playing this bizarre parody of Archie.”
He continued, “‘The borrowing and use of elements from the client’s Archie/Riverdale assets (e.g. character names/attributes, storylines, plot details) and the future marketing/licensing value of those assets. The potential impact of (e.g. musical or dramatized) “I SEE U.”
According to the program website, Archie’s bizarre parody “A rock musical about suburbia, conformity, and changing destinies, even if you’re a character trapped in a cartoon.”
As riverdale‘s Jughead is time-warped to the 1950s this season, but the musical’s Jughead first finds himself “trapped in a story of destiny”. The musical uses propulsive plotlines such as: riverdale Season 1, as a point of contact for the murder of Jason Blossom riverdaleFalling into chaos. With the help of cartoon buddies Archie, Betty, Veronica and Cheryl, the gang tries to no avail to stop the murder before it happens.
This season, Jughead and his friends forget what life was like in the original timeline. Looking at his 1950s outfits in promotional stills, it’s safe to say that a whole new musical episode also happens in his whole decade. In the past, riverdale We have developed various genres depending on the season.they first worked Carrie: The Musical and undertook Heathers: Musical, Hedwig and the Angry Inch, next to normaland American Psycho: The Musical.
Will the new musical overshadow Off-Broadway theater efforts? Klein didn’t seem to think so, tweeting, “A bizarre parody of Archie that will make you famous.”
riverdale New episodes air every Wednesday at 9pm ET on The CW. “Archie the Musical” will air on July 5th.
