On Thursday, Angelina Jolie appeared on the red carpet for the premiere of The Outsider in New York City with her daughter Vivian, who worked as a production assistant on the musical.
“Extras” interviewed Angelina and was joined by Justin Levine, who wrote the book and music.

Justin raved about Vivian: Viv is one of the greatest humans and observers I’ve ever met, someone who sees people and the world in such a way that so much of this show reconnects with your inner child. is. It was an honor to work with this amazing 15-year-old and hear her perspective and learn the lessons of speaking when you have something to say and learning how to energize a space. Is…I think she’s one of the smartest little greasers I’ve ever met. ”
Angie added with a big smile, “She’s a smart little greaser.”
While Justin praised Vivian, Angelina also had great things to say about Vivian. She said: “I learned so much from this guy, Justin, and this whole cast and crew. I feel like I went back to school to learn so much about what an artist is and what an artist is. I am very, very honored to be here and create this work. ”
Angelina noted that the musical is “different” from the novel and film of the same name.
Justin elaborated on how the new show will be different, saying, “I mean, this book was really our north star when we were doing it. But I don’t know…to quote the show. We all kind of brought our own books.” “We all come from different places. We all start from different lines.”
Justin said of how Angie elevated the musical: What about that? ‘And you’ll often have a knee-jerk reaction like, ‘Well, that’s the way we do it,’ and she’ll say, ‘So why do we do it that way?’ Or, “I don’t know, I’ve been through this before”… What makes this show so beautiful and unique is how unique everyone’s perspective is. ”
Angie couldn’t agree more!
The cast calls Angelina Mama Bear, but she gives credit to her leader, director Danya Taymor.
She said, “Listen, they have a great coach… She’s a very nurturing person. She leads this team. I feel like I’m right there beside her.” To do.”
Jolie expressed her love for the cast, saying: They are an extremely talented, intelligent, and kind group of people. ”
She emphasized: It’s not just that they’re good people, they’re rarely actually that good. It’s such an amazing group of people, they’re so hardworking and talented and I can’t wait for everyone to see them. Please come. ”
Angie also designed some of the looks on the show, including the one Justin wore. She said, “She was fun to do.”
