Amazon has announced plans to incorporate advertising into its Prime Video streaming service by 2024, unless customers pay an additional fee to subscribe to additional ad-free slots. The company emphasized that this decision is important in order to maintain its investments in engaging content and ensure the continued growth of such investments for the foreseeable future.

Amazon informed subscribers that the number of ads on its platform will be significantly reduced compared to traditional TV and other streaming TV providers.
In an email shared with customers, Amazon said the ad-supported version of Prime Video will be the default option for Prime members. Membership prices for these members will not change in 2024.

However, individuals who want to watch Prime Video without ads have the option to upgrade to an ad-free slot for an additional $3 per month in the US.
Ads on Prime Video will begin rolling out on January 29, 2024 for customers in the US, UK, Canada, and Germany.
The rollout will then be rolled out to France, Italy, Spain, Mexico and Australia in 2024. However, at this time, there is no information regarding price increases for plans in the India region or the inclusion of advertising in existing plans.

Please note that live events, including sports, will continue to feature commercials even if customers have upgraded to ad-free slots. Because these commercials are part of the broadcast rights agreement.
