Amazon On Friday, technical issues with its checkout prevented customers from completing their purchases. The e-commerce site displayed an error message along with a photo of a dog during the outage, which people took to social media.
Amazon uses its own data center infrastructure to run its websites, but the company’s Amazon Web Services division did not report any technical issues while its checkout feature was not working. With so many businesses relying on the market-leading public cloud, AWS downtime could cause problems across the internet.
An Amazon spokesperson did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
