Air Canada Flight 997 had declared an onboard emergency before making an unscheduled landing at Boise Airport Tuesday morning. No injuries were reported.
BOISE, ID — An “in-flight emergency” caused a Canadian airliner to make an unscheduled landing. Boise Airport (BOI) TuesdayHowever, authorities did not clarify how the emergency was handled.
According to the City of Boise, Air Canada Flight 997 was en route to Canada when the pilot on board declared an emergency, forcing the flight to divert to BOI for an unplanned landing.
The Boeing 737 was scheduled to depart Mexico City, Mexico, at around 6 a.m. and land in Vancouver, Canada, at 10:55 a.m. (local time). According to flightstats.com, the flight was rescheduled to depart at 5pm MDT for Vancouver.
Boise airport staff helped the passengers unload their luggage from the plane and clear U.S. Customs, the city said.Border Patrol agents were on-site to assist with proper entry into the United States.
No injuries were reported. However, emergency crews were dispatched to the scene at 10:43 a.m. and remained at the scene until the afternoon.
Boise Airport said in a news release that there is no impact to airport operations and all runways remain open.
