That infamous “I” word, that’s impeachment. It’s a word Americans have become all too familiar with in recent history. President Trump has been impeached twice. Joe Biden now faces the possibility of his own impeachment. And here in New Mexico, we are fighting to impeach the tyrant occupying the governor’s mansion.
In most cases, this behavior is highly politicized and overly partisan. Clearly, the judicial system has been and continues to be used as a weapon against President Trump for political purposes. Democrats in Washington are now flocking to the leadership’s side, and the partisan game has begun.
Here in New Mexico, it’s quite the opposite.
Mexico’s new governor says Republicans should ‘thank’ him as tensions rise over Democrat’s sweep gun order
Last week, Democratic Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham used emergency public health orders spread by tyrants across the country to restrict our rights during the pandemic, issuing a warning to all of Albuquerque and surrounding Bernalillo County. Open carry and concealed carry have been suspended.
In one fell swoop, the governor broke his oath to the Constitution and endangered the safety of all New Mexicans.
House Republicans seek to censure New Mexico government for ‘blatant violation’ of Second Amendment
The emergency order has drawn scrutiny from leaders across the country and even from across the aisle. Gun control activists and liberal politicians have joined Republicans in calling for the order to be repealed. New Mexico’s Democratic Attorney General Raul Torres announced that he would not defend the emergency order in court because it is unconstitutional.
When the NRA and ACLU agree that you are violating the Constitution, you know you have failed!
We were the first legislators in New Mexico to demand accountability and call for the impeachment of Governor Lujan Grisham. Congressman Bullock and I have led the fight and built a strong bipartisan coalition of grassroots supporters to rescind this order and force Governor Grisham to step down.
Progressive governors across the country are watching New Mexico and waiting to see if this kind of executive overreach works so well that they can start implementing it in their own states.
If she went that far and violated our rights once, she will do it again, and we will not tolerate it.
Republicans ask unlikely allies of Biden administration to intervene to stop NM’s ‘unconstitutional power grab’
Progressive governors across the country are watching New Mexico and waiting to see if this kind of executive overreach works so well that they can start implementing it in their own states.
Before I was elected, I formed a citizen action group called Pro-Gun Women to combat persistent Second Amendment violations in New Mexico. I was tired of progressives constantly introducing bills that affected legal gun owners and did nothing to address real crime issues.

Governor Lujan Grisham’s executive order does nothing to curb the violence. She admitted this at a press conference when a reporter asked if this would stop criminals from being transported, but she proudly declared that it would not.
Rep. Lord and I are standing up not just for New Mexicans, but for all gun-owning Americans who fear their state will be next.
What can we do to prevent these orders from happening again? If they can take away our Second Amendment rights with the stroke of a pen, they can take away our religion, our speech, and You can do that for all the other rights enumerated in our Constitution as well.
New Mexicans from all walks of life and backgrounds resonate with our message and want change. Addressing crime begins by providing law enforcement with the funding and resources they need to properly protect our streets. We don’t fight crime, we work with law enforcement to fight crime.

It is time to impeach Governor Lujan Grisham and hold her accountable for her blatant disregard for her office and the Constitution.
The road to fulfilling our responsibilities is long and windy, but we remain undaunted. We will persevere for New Mexico and our country. We intend to be on the right side of history, and we will not retreat without a fight.
Republican John Bullock represents New Mexico’s 51st District in the New Mexico House of Representatives.
